She was taken to hospital, but was later tragically pronounced dead. She has been named locally as Lauren Howe.
A 27-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently in police custody.
Specialist officers and investigators from the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team are conducting the investigation and are offering support to the woman’s family, a West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said.
Detective Superintendent Emma Winfield, of the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team, said: “A woman has tragically lost her life and our thoughts are with her family and friends and those who knew her at this truly awful time.
“We are conducting extensive enquiries to understand the circumstances of what has taken place and would urge anyone that can assist us in this investigation to please make contact.”
The statement added the force had received an earlier report of a linked matter from a member of the public and referred itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct in relation to the handling of that incident.
“It’s a massive tragedy for the young lady and her family,” said Cllr Martin Love (Green, Shipley ward).
“It’s an absolute tragedy for a young woman to lose her life in those circumstances.
“My thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends.
“The neighbours will also be quite shocked with all of the police activity in the area.”
