The former One Direction turned solo star Zayn Malik has been dubbed Bradford’s most searched for musician, with more than eight million views, giving him the third highest overall in the UK, according to a study.
With 16 awards and 38 nominations under his belt, the ‘Pillow Talk’ singer could be Bradford’s most successful musician.
Other Bradford musicians featured in the top 10 include Kiki Dee (765,000 views), Kimberley Walsh (546,000 views), Gareth Gates (403,000 views) and Ricky Wilson (348,000 views) ranking third, fourth, seventh and ninth for city searchers respectively.
The study was carried out by the cultural programming team at Wembley Park - home to two of Britain’s most iconic music venues, Wembley Stadium and the OVO Arena Wembley – analysed Wikipedia page view data for top musicians born in 25 UK cities.
Pop sensation Dua Lipa takes the top spot nationally and in the UK’s Capital, London, with over 16 million page views and counting. The ‘One Kiss’ singer beat the likes of Elton John (12m views), David Bowie (11.9m views) and Adele (11.2m views) - who are also all London born and bred.
