NHS staff and their grateful patients from West Yorkshire and Teesside will come together for the first time to hike the Yorkshire Three Peaks this September.
Members of the public are being urged to join the healthcare heroes to raise money for their chosen NHS charity on Saturday, September 10.
Fundraisers will be hiking for: Bradford Hospitals’ Charity (the charity of Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust), Better Lives Charity (supporting Bradford and District Care Trust), Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Charity, and North Tees and Hartlepool Together NHS Charity.
The challenge will include a 24-mile hike up Pen-y-ghent, Whernside, and Ingleborough. Walkers aim to complete the challenge, in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales, in less than 12 hours.
Hayley Collis, Head of Fundraising for Bradford Hospitals’ Charity, which raised £15,000 when its supporters took part last year, said: “Last year was just extraordinary.
“Many of our walkers took part for very personal reasons; some because it was on their bucket list, and many because they felt it was important to be part of a team and they wanted to support their work family by giving back to our hospital charity, which has supported them so much during the Covid-19 pandemic.”
