NOMINATIONS are now open for an awards event which will celebrate Bradford’s community champions.
The Africa4U Online Awards for Bradford Achievers will recognise local role models from all backgrounds across the district.
Nominations are open until Sunday, 7 August, and should be sent to Africa4U founder – Tony Tokunbo Eteka Fernandez – at afripoet@gmail.com.
Award recipients will be announced a few days after.
“I want to promote role models, community champions and upcoming stars,” said Tony.
“People who have been doing great work in Bradford, in any sector – whether it be health, business or community cohesion – can be nominated.
“This is important because I want to promote the true life and success stories of local people.
“As I live in Bradford, it is my duty to do that. I want to promote the people who we don’t get to hear about.
“We have a good network of organisations in Bradford, but I personally feel there is still a disconnect, and there is room for improvement.
“We need people to come out of their shells and be the changes they want to see in society, and not wait for people to knock on our doors.
“Change starts from us.”
