PLANS to boost “active travel” on a stretch of Darley Street have been awarded £600,000 in Government funding.
Changes are expected to include wider pavements, improved pedestrian crossings and new cycle facilities.
Bradford Council says the project, part of a recently announced wave of Government Active Travel projects, will focus on the area between Upper Piccadilly and Godwin Street.
A Bradford Council spokesperson, said: “This will create a high-quality Active Travel route between the new Darley Street Market and City Village on North Parade.”

The Council had previously said the work would lead to the removal of a number of parking spaces on the street.
A further £525,000 has also been approved for three more Active Travel Neighbourhoods in the District, and £70,000 for at least another five School Streets – which see roads near schools closed to traffic at pick up and drop off times.
An Active Travel Neighbourhood was recently launched in Saltaire.
A decision on the location of the three new projects has yet to be decided.
The Council added: “Active Travel Neighbourhoods aim to make areas more people friendly by reducing traffic and only allowing more sustainable low impact modes of transport such as walking, cycling and buses.
“The funding may also be used to create green, leafy spaces such as pocket parks and for safer parallel crossings.”
