A MAN has been fined after he was caught with large lengths of timber hanging out of his car.
Shahid Islam, 39, of Branksome Crescent, Heaton, appeared before Bradford and Keighley Magistrates’ Court to be sentenced.
He was charged with using a motor vehicle/trailer – danger of injury due to weight/position/distribution/security of load.
According to court documents, Islam was caught on Toller Lane on August 31 last year when he was caught with large lengths of timber protruding out of a partially open boot and front passenger window.
They were not tied down and were causing a “danger of injury”, the court heard.
He initially denied the offence, then changed his plea to guilty.
Islam was fined £100, ordered to pay costs of £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service as well as a surcharge of £34 to fund victim services.
His driving record will also be endorsed with three points.
