POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a collision between a Parcel Force lorry and a car which left a young man with serious, life-threatening injuries.
At about 9.30pm on Friday, a white Volvo C30 car carrying four people and a red Royal Mail articulated Parcel Force lorry collided at the crossroads on the A59 at West Marton.
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: " A passenger in the Volvo, a man in his 20’s, sustained life threatening injuries and was taken to hospital by air ambulance where he remains in a serious condition.
"Roads policing officers are appealing for anyone who saw either vehicle prior to the collision, or the collision itself to get in touch. Anyone who may have captured dash cam footage of the vehicles or the collision is urged to get in touch."
Anyone with any information is asked to email: Amanda.Stokes@northyorkshire.police.uk. People can also call 101, select option 2 and ask to speak to Amanda Stokes.
The spokesperson added: "Officers would like to thank road users for their patience and understanding while the road was closed to allow Forensic Collision Investigators to carry out their work."
The A59 was closed in both directions until just before 11am on Saturday.
