RESIDENTS across the Bradford district are being urged to prepare for the extreme heat forecast over the weekend and the early part of next week.
The Met Office has issued an exceptionally rare red warning for extreme heat from midnight on Sunday until midnight on Tuesday.
They have also issued an amber warning for extreme heat from midnight on Saturday until midnight on Tuesday.
Bradford Council has put together advice on its website about the risks of extreme heat especially on vulnerable residents.
Residents are reminded to avoid swimming in open water to cool off and not to use barbecues on moorlands or in parks.
Council staff have been issued with advice about safely working in the heat.
Council outreach workers have been working with the homeless, providing extra water and sun cream and securing accommodation until Wednesday.
Council Highways crews are on standby to deal with any issues on the roads caused by the hot weather.
Next week's bin collections will start earlier in the day than usual.
For the safety of crews, cllections may be suspended if it becomes too hot. If your collection is delayed and doesn't take place, leave your bin out until it is emptied.
