THE murder trial of a newly-wed man whose bride’s body was recovered from a suitcase is set to begin a week on Monday.
Thomas Nutt pleaded guilty at Bradford Crown Court in April to unlawfully killing Dawn Walker between October 27 and 31 last year.
He denies murdering Miss Walker, 52, but admitted the alternative offence of manslaughter.
Nutt, 45, of Shirley Grove, Lightcliffe, was before the court on a video link to Leeds Prison on Friday to ensure the trial gets underway on July 25.
Leading defence barrister, Stephen Wood QC, told Judge Jonathan Rose that it was expected the jury would be sworn in that morning.
The case would then be completed within the two-week timeframe.
It was stated at an earlier hearing that Miss Walker had ‘significant areas of bruising on her scalp.’
Nutt, in a blue and white striped t-shirt, was then remanded back into custody.
