POLICE have said the extra stop and search powers put in place in Holme Wood yesterday afternoon to prevent serious violence have ended this morning.
Video footage emerged online of large-scale disorder, showing masked youths on quad bikes, people charging towards a house across some grassland, and a wheelie bin being hurled at someone at point blank range.
The Force add that there were no further issues following those incidents at Sandmede Close and the use of Section 60 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994.
In a highly-rare move for the district, senior officers at Bradford District authorised the use of S60, which gives officers the right to search people or vehicles for offensive weapons in a defined area for a set period, on Thursday.
The order covered an area bounded by Tong Street, Westgate Hill Street, New Lane, Raikes Lane, Holme Lane, Ned Lane, Tyersal Lane, Parsonage Road, Dick Lane, Cutler Heights Lane, Sticker Lane and Tong Street.
The authorisation was made at 1.20pm and finished at 8am on Friday morning.
The T&A have approached the police for more details on yesterday's disorder.
