YORKSHIRE Building Society has partnered with SignLive to improve accessibility for deaf customers using its telephone services or branches.

Customers that are British Sign Language users can now use SignLive to contact the Society.

SignLive is a free to use service that connects customers with qualified online BSL interpreters.

Either using the SignLive app or a computer, customers connect to interpreters that relay conversations between them and Yorkshire Building Society colleagues, either on the telephone and can also be used in face-to-face conversations in the Society’s branches and agencies.

Cara Holbrow, senior manager customer services at Yorkshire Building Society, said: “We are delighted to have partnered with SignLive. We want all our products and services to be inclusive and accessible for all our customers. We also want to ensure customers can contact us via their channel of choice, so partnering with SignLive is a great example of where we are removing barriers for our customers being able to contact us.

“Now customers who communicate via sign language will be able to contact us via telephone, or in a branch setting, with a British Sign Language interpreter available 24/7 which improves accessibility for our customers who communicate via BSL.”
