A SKIPTON man who attacked his estranged wife's naked lover in a hotel room has been given longer to carry out an unpaid work requirement.
Michael Morgan, 57, of Brindley Wharf, had pleaded guilty to two charges of assault by beating and one of harassment without violence which occurred at the Coniston Hotel and Spa, at Coniston Cold, on October 10, 2020.
Morgan had gone to the hotel room, where his wife who was a domestic at the hotel was staying for a three-day break, and attacked the man who had just emerged from the shower.
Morgan had pushed his wife and punched the victim hitting him near his left eye, causing a bruise. Morgan tried to continue punching the man and in the scuffle scratched his neck and shoulder.
After pleading guilty at an earlier hearing, Morgan was sentenced on January 15 last year to a 12-month restraining order, £100 compensation and 180 hours of unpaid work which had to be completed by July 14 this year.
At a hearing before Harrogate magistrates on July 1, Morgan was granted a further 12 months to complete the community order which still has 76 hours remaining. The new order runs out on January 14, 2023.
