THE finalists of the 11th English Curry Awards have been revealed and there are plenty of Bradford district restaurants in the running.
The awards are a celebration of the top Asian curry professionals and businesses in the country.
Those rewarded will include chefs, restaurants, managers, takeaways, teams and curry schools.
Keighley's Azeem's Restaurant is up against the likes of Parmars Indian Restaurant & Bar in Liversedge and Wakefield duo Cinnamon Lounge and La La’s Restaurant in the Restaurant of the Year Yorkshire and the Humber field.
The contenders for the unique Best of Bradford category are as follows: Bharat Restaurant Bar & Grill (Great Horton), Karachi Restaurant (city centre), Rajshahi (Idle), Sultans Restaurant (Manningham), Bhajis n Beer (Apperley Bridge), Krahi & Handi Masters (Clayton), Kun Indian Grill & Bistro (city centre), Kebabeesh (Greengates), Amaans Grill House (Listerhills)and Akbar’s Restaurant (Laisterdyke).
Curry Corner and Shimla Spice in Silsden and Keighley are finalists for the Curry Restaurant of the Year - Yorkshire and the Humber gong. Leeds' Gate of India Restaurant and Voujon Indian Restaurant are also in the race for this one.
Taste of Bengal in Idle and Holme Wood's Hot Spot face the likes of Indian Fusion (Leeds), Amirah Spice (Wakefield) and Delhi Wala (Halifax) for the region's Takeaway of the Year.
Leeds Road-based Apna Khana is up for Caterer of the Year in a 10-business field which includes Batley's Spices & Rices and Sukkur Cuisine Caterers in Dewsbury.
Guiseley's Janota Tandoori is vying to be the best Takeaway and Home Delivery of the Year in Yorkshire and The Humber. Ramzey’s (Wakefield), Janota Tandoori (Leeds), Anisa’s Indian Takeaway (Halifax), Imran Indian Takeaway (Huddersfield) and Jinnah (Leeds) are also in this category.
Parmars Indian Restaurant & Bar and Lala's Restaurant are hoping to be double winners with a shot at the North's Chef of the Year.
Leeds city centre's Tharavadu Restaurant is aiming to become South Indian Restaurant of the Year.
A spokesperson from the event organiser, Oceanic Consulting, said: "The English Curry Awards were one of our first and remain one of our best awards.
"Despite the many challenges facing the curry industry, these awards prove year after year how much talent there is satisfying all of our curry cravings.
"We have an abundance of talent and fierce competition this year.”
The black-tie awards ceremony will take place on August 22 at Holiday Inn, Birmingham Airport.
