A 16-year-old entrepreneur has shared an inspiring message to Bradford's teenagers after transforming his passion for balloon styling into a successful business.
Popular with over 10,000 people on video sharing platform TikTok, Haseeb Hussain creates colourful and elegant balloon sculptures from his garden shed in BD7.
He now runs his own academy, Balloons by Haseeb Academy, and hopes his story will get teens to “stay off the roads and chase their dreams from a young age”.
Haseeb was just 13 years old when he started bringing balloon décor to birthday parties; bridal and baby showers; Eid parties; Baraats (Groom’s wedding tradition); Mehndi parties (pre-wedding party tradition) and more.
“I just wanted to do something with my life,” he told the Telegraph & Argus.
“It was my brother’s 18th birthday and we hired out a company to do balloons and there were a few spare ones and from there I just found an interest.
“I think just the environment I’ve been brought up in made me do it. I was just 12/13 years old.
"At first my mum thought it was quite embarrassing because she didn’t think I was good at it.
"When I started to get my first few bookings, with practice comes perfect.
"Now I have my own training courses.
“When I first started my parents, they started paying for everything like all my stock. My parents are the stepping stone of my business.
“I just want to inspire people and show it can be the most silliest thing you can keep trying. When I was 10 years old I started a baking page but that didn’t work out. But I got balloons and that did work out. You need to go out of your comfort zone.”
The former Dixons Trinity Academy pupil has dreams of studying business at college and getting a university degree.
He said: “I just want to extend my business, start doing wedding stages.
“In my shed I’ve renovated it, it’s like a little shop now.”
In a message to Bradford’s young generation, Haseeb said: “Just work hard, focus on yourself and find something you enjoy - not something someone else is doing and you want to do it for the sake of doing it. Start a business, you can invest as little as £50 in a business.”
