POLICE have issued a warning and confirmed they are aware of plans for a possible protest on Monday, July 4 on parts of the M62.
Plans show that 'go slow' protestors are set to meet at Ferrybridge services near Pontefract on Monday at 6 am where they will then block the motorway and peacefully protest.
West Yorkshire Police are assuring drivers they will have 'appropriate plans in place' but 'significant disruption to the road network is likely.'
The protest has been planned by carsuniteuk as fuel prices continue to rise across the UK.
A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "West Yorkshire Police is aware of proposed national protests on the UK motorway network on July 4.
"We are working with partner agencies, to ensure that we have appropriate plans in place, but if the protests do go ahead, significant disruption to the roads network is likely and we would advise people to consider their travel plans, if possible, on the 4th of July.
"Deliberate obstruction of the road network will inconvenience huge numbers of people, draw police resources away from other important work and potentially delay the response times of all emergency services.
"We acknowledge the importance of lawful protests but will deal swiftly with any criminal offences."
