BBC Bradford On Duty: When cancelled episode can be viewed

Viewers were outraged on Thursday night when the programme was dropped at late notice due to the broadcaster's Wimbledon coverage.

The show had already been rescheduled to a later slot of 9.30pm to make time for the tennis event.

But with Britain's Jack Draper in action into the night, his endeavours remained on BBC Two instead of Bradford On Duty.

The show documents the struggles the emergency services face in the city

Episode four "On the Edge" will now be available on the iPlayer and aired on TV at 9pm on Wednesday.

It means viewers are in for a bumper two evenings as the controversial series comes to a conclusion a day later.

Viewers took to social media to express their disappointment at Thursday's cancellation.

Joanne Buck said: "Tennis took over the channel and cancelled the programme. Gutted because it's a good watch."

Sean Conway added: "@BBCTwo We don't care about Wimbledon. We want Bradford On Duty!"

Mahmoona Shah tweeted: "Bradford on Duty bounced off the schedule in favour of an elite sport. Sums up this country and the current state of affairs. The reality of poverty and levelling down is too boring for some."

"So annoyed that @BBCTwo have chosen Wimbledon over Bradford On Duty," said Sarah McCarten-Williams.

Anne Henderson said: "I am not amused. I have waited all week for this."

David Park added: "The BBC is full of Wimbledon coverage during the day and a lot on iPlayer live as well, so yes I was disappointed to see an evening program go AWOL. I went to the iPlayer for Bradford On Duty and episode four wasn't there either."

With access to the frontline workers patrolling the streets, all the way up to the leaders making strategic decisions in the City Hall, Bradford On Duty takes a look at those who are determined to help some of Bradford's most vulnerable residents.

Previous episodes have included police officers talking about cats being eaten and nine-year-old drug takers in the city.

The programme will be on twice next week

A BBC spokesperson said: "Viewers will be able to watch the fourth episode of Bradford on Duty on TV and iPlayer on Wednesday, July 6."

On occasional scheduling changes, the BBC added: "Due to breaking news or coverage of live sport during the summer there may be occasions where the schedules might be a bit more flexible than usual.

"We do consider any changes very carefully though, and try to make sure they have as little impact as possible."
