A BRADFORD man who has experienced homelessness will undertake a charity walk tomorrow (Sunday) in the hope of helping others.
Darren Dodds has smashed his £500 target and the money he raises will be used to provide starter packs filled with essential items.
He’s doing the walk on behalf of Quays Housing, which is currently supporting him with moving into his own accommodation.
Darren wrote on his JustGiving Page: “I have had my own challenges, that have resulted in me rough sleeping and using substances as a coping mechanism. I am out of my addiction and being supported to re-build my life with the help of Quays Housing.
“The staff have supported me on my good days and bad and I would like to raise money to help others in my position within Quays Housing.”
His five-mile walk will take from follow the canal from Shipley up to Bingley.
Darren said: “Although I am active, I do have scarring on my lungs so can become breathless.
“This is a challenge for me but one I will enjoy as I love the outdoors.
“All money raised will be to provide starter packs for those who need help with essential items that they require when signing up for their tenancies and starting on their journeys to securing their own accommodation.”
