Fugitives taking part in Channel 4 series 'Hunted' spotted on the run in Skipton

Locals took to social media to share their excitement after spotting the Channel 4 crew, who are thought to be filming for the next series of Hunted.

The show invites ordinary people to have a go at being on the run like a real-life fugitive while a team of expert ‘Hunters’ use a range of methods to find their whereabouts.

The fugitives that make it to the end will get a cut of a generous sum of prize money.

On Monday, Adam Wilkinson posted on the Skipton Community Facebook forum that he’s ‘just seen 3 of the hunters, a TV crew and 2 Volvos from the TV programme "Hunted" in the layby by Skipton roundabout near Keelham Farmshop.”

Jayne Milles added: “Just passed a hunter on the pull-in along the side of the canal at Niffany. I wondered if they were filming as there was what looked to be a Volvo parked there too.”

And another Facebook user commented: “I wondered what a random guy with a camera was doing. Don’t watch the programme but nice to know it’s nothing serious.”

Alex Peters-Day said she was walking her dog into town and saw them across the road running up Sawley street towards the canal on Monday afternoon.

“I wasn't 100% it was them at first - it's the last thing you expect to see in Skipton!

“Then later, on the way back from the shops my husband and I saw them again parked up just after Niffany farm.

“We're both big hunted fans and were delighted to see them, can't wait to watch it on the TV now!” she said.

Others were keen to get involved with the show and help the fugitives out.

Amanda Belt said: “They could have gone in my attic - they would never have found them up there.”

And another added that she ‘would of let them camp in our back garden as well if she’d known.’

However, speculation on the Facebook group indicates that the pair were caught near the canal bridge after Broughton Road.

The show which was first broadcast in 2015 recently aired its 6th series.

Lisa Theaker, Serving Assistant Chief Constable of Cleveland Police, spearheads the team of 30 Hunters who use real-life methods to find and capture the fugitives.

Channel 4 also hosts a celebrity series where Olympians such as Louis Smith, Made in Chelsea stars, Ollie and Gareth Locke and Love Island stars have taken part.
