A MAN has appeared in court charged with stealing almost £300 worth of box sets from a shop in Bradford.
Stephen Butlin, 39, of Boldshay Street, Bradford, faced two theft from a shop charges.
In the first, he stole box sets, worth a total of £169.96, from HMV, Petergate Mall, The Broadway, Bradford. The offence took place on November 11, 2021.
Butlin was also ordered to pay £620 costs to the Crown Prosecution Service and a £95 victim surcharge for this charge.
In the second charge, Butlin stole box sets, to the value of £110, also from HMV at The Broadway, Bradford. This theft offence took place on August 31, 2021.
Butlin was handed a community order for both theft from a shop offences. Under the order, he must comply with a number of requirements including a drug rehabilitation requirement and rehabilitation activity requirement.
A collection order was made by the court at the sentencing hearing. The court also applied for deductions to be made from Butlin’s benefits.
Butlin pleaded not guilty to both offences at a previous hearing, but these pleas were changed to guilty and he was sentenced at Bradford & Keighley Magistrates’ Court on June 22, 2022.
