A MEMBER of a world-famous brass band has spoken of playing on the main stage at Glastonbury Festival and a chance encounter with a headliner backstage.
The Black Dyke Band, based in Queensbury, kicked off the third and final day’s acts on the Pyramid Stage at the famous festival on Sunday.
They wowed the crowd with their 45-minute long set which included Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody and James Bond theme, For Your Eyes Only.

It's the second time Black Dyke Band has played the Pyramid Stage after previously appearing there in 2017.
Alison Childs, who plays first tenor horn and has been with the band since 1999, was part of the group on stage, but also had a chance encounter with a star.
She walked past US rapper Kendrick Lamar, who headlined Sunday night’s bill on the Pyramid Stage backstage following Black Dyke’s earlier performance.
Mrs Childs says she stayed until after Diana Ross also played the Pyramid Stage on Sunday afternoon.
She said: “It was absolutely fabulous.
“Our set was 45 minutes long and it went by in a flash. It went really well.
“It was a really good day all-round. It was better this time, but the first was more exciting. Because we have been there before we had a few more people watching us. It was an all-round good experience.
“Glastonbury is absolutely huge.
“The band got a very good reception. They played well and it was an absolutely excellent event. We’re lucky and it’s the second time I have done it.
“Our younger players were not in the band when we played the first time. They said they couldn’t believe it.
"Kendrick Lamar smiled at me backstage. It was just after we came off stage. It was nice. He was walking towards the stage
“I didn’t know who he was. One of the younger band members said to me ‘do you know who that is?’”
Meanwhile, Bradford chart stars Bad Boy Chiller Crew also performed at Glastonbury.
The popular MC trio - made up of Kane, GK and Clive – performed their hits including 'BMW', '450' and 'Don't You Worry About Me' at the festival in Somerset.
BBCC played The Rabbit Hole stage on Thursday night; the John Peel Stage on Friday afternoon and the Lonely Hearts Club stage on Saturday night.
The group appeared in a report on television that looked at ways they could chill out at the festival.
