Issa brothers behind new Bradford housing plan

A planning application has been lodged with Bradford Council, seeking outline planning permission to build the houses on land off Kaycell Street in Bierley, off the major Rooley Lane route.

It has been submitted by Euro Garages Ltd, which is run by Blackburn-born Asda owners Mohsin and Zuber Issa.

It says: “The proposed usage of the site will be for 18 new houses with a total of 38 car parking spaces.

“A new access road is proposed to be extended from the existing Kaycell Street to create the small inclusive estate.

“Units are proposed to have rooms in the roof space so will be a total of two-and-a half storeys.

“The layout has been influenced by the constraints of the site to maximise the potential of the site.”

It says external building materials will be designed to match and be “in keeping with the locale”.

It adds: “The proposed development would be constructed on land that has been identified within the Bradford District Local Plan as an ideal location for residential development.

“The proposed layout is reflective of the surrounding locale and is appropriately proportional to the size of the site. The proposal will also provide housing that is needed throughout Bradford.”

A separate planning statement submitted as part of the application says the proposal has been submitted at a time when the Council is "unable to demonstrate a robust five-year supply of housing and as such the presumption in favour of sustainable development is engaged”.

Earlier this year, EG Group said it will create some 22,700 jobs across the UK over the next five years as it continues its rapid growth.

The petrol forecourt giant, which bought healthy fast-food chain Leon and bakery business Cooplands last year, said it is part of plans to create 32,000 jobs globally.

It said most of the new roles will be across its expanding foodservice business.
