PLANS to turn a section of a former city centre department store into a shisha lounge have been submitted to Bradford Council.
The Boyes store on North Parade shut when the company opened a new branch in the Kirkgate Centre in 2019.
Since then the building has been divided into several smaller units and taken on a new life as a leisure venue, with a Virtual Reality experience, crazy golf venue and milkshake bar all having set up in the old department store.
Now a planning application to turn one unit into a shisha bar and café has been submitted by Ambient Energy.
The plans will involve the creation of a new roof terrace on the building to create an external smoking area.

Solar panels would also be installed on the roof of the building, one of the biggest in Bradford’s 'top of town' area.
Proposed opening hours would be from noon until 2am.
The application says: “The proposal will bring into beneficial use another part of the former Boyes building adding to the diversity of activities in the City Centre.”
It says there is ample parking in the area.
A decision on the application is expected in August.
