POLICE are investigating following an incident at a store in the Bradford district last night.
Officers were called to the Sainsbury’s Local on Bradford Road, Menston, shortly before 11pm to what they have described as a burglary.
Unconfirmed reports from locals in the area initially suggested that an armed robbery had taken place, with one person – who wished to remain anonymous – claiming that the store had been “cleared out” of cigarettes by armed intruders.
A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said, however, that the incident “doesn’t look to have been an armed robbery.”
The spokesperson added: “We received a report of a burglary at the Sainsbury’s Local store on Bradford Road, Menston, called in at 10.57pm.
“We are investigating, and no arrests have been made.”
A Sainsbury’s spokesperson said: “There was an incident at our Menston Bradford Road Local store on Tuesday night.
"Thankfully no one was hurt and we are supporting the police with their investigation.”
