West Yorkshire Police has launched a recruitment drive for new emergency call handlers.
The entry level apprenticeship programme is based at Dudley Hill Police Station in Bradford and Laburnum Road, Wakefield.
The role involves taking emergency and non-emergency calls – giving you the chance to save lives and help others.
Apprentices will earn the Emergency Service Contact Handling Standard (Level 3) qualification.
Ideal candidates are those who can make sound decisions under pressure and think logically and focus on understanding any circumstances, people and risks before you.
The ability to multi task as an individual and with others is also crucial.
The basic salary for a call handler is £21,399 per annum. The force offers 20 per cent shift allowance and 13.45 per cent weekend enhancements, taking the wage to £28,556.
People can apply for the policing programme via the West Yorkshire Police website.
Applications close at 11:55pm on Friday, June 24, 2022.
