BANKING giant Santander has hinted at the location of its new temporary city centre branch.
New planning applications to convert ground floor space of the company’s huge regional office on Nelson Street has been submitted to Bradford Council.
The plans describe the development as a “new Santander branch.”
In April, Santander announced it would be temporarily closing its city centre branch, on the junction of Darley Street and Kirkgate, due to “structural issues” in the listed building.
Last week, customers were sent a letter to say work to repair these issues could take “longer than anticipated due to the age of the building.”
It said the company was working “to establish alternative ways to access banking services in the local area until we have a fully operational site back in the city centre.”
The applications are to create a fully accessible space in the regional office, next to Bradford Interchange, and for new signage for this space.
When asked about when work on this new branch would start, a Santander spokesman said: “We are investigating a number of options in terms of securing alternative ways to access banking services in the local area and will provide local people with an update once a decision has been made.”
