A LOCAL MP is hosting the first-ever health and wellbeing get-together in their constituency.
Kim Leadbeater, MP for Batley and Spen is holding an event at Wilton Park, Batley and will take place between 10am and 3pm on June 25 in collaboration with the Batley and Birstall Primary Care Network.
Ms Leadbeater said: "This will be a fantastic and fun day out for everybody with lots of free activities for adults and children alike.
"I know times are tough for many people with the current cost of living crisis, which is why I wanted to do something that is free to enjoy and easily accessible.
"It has never been more important for us all to look after our health and well-being – physical and mental.
"I want to say a big thank you to all the groups and organisations who have offered their support.
"I know it’s going to be a great day out and along with the other Great Get Together events, it’s an opportunity to show how reconnecting in our community is good for all of us."
Building on her background in sport and physical activity, Kim has made promoting health and well-being a priority since becoming the MP a year ago. There will be health screening carried out by NHS professionals and the opportunity to take part in a range of enjoyable activities.
The event coincides with the annual Great Get Together weekend which is held in memory of Kim’s sister, Jo Cox, and her belief that ‘we are far more united and have far more in common than that which divides us’.
