FIRST West Yorkshire has announced that the deadline to apply for a share of £20,000 from the Bradford Go-Greener Fund has been extended for another five days.

The deadline was originally today, but has now been extended to 6pm on Sunday, 19 June.

The decision has been made to allow more time for small firms to take up the opportunity, given the recent busy period for many consumer businesses with the Jubilee celebrations.

The fund was launched three weeks ago by First West Yorkshire with support from Green Street, an organisation helping small retailers to become more sustainable.

Applications must be made at Firstbus.co.uk/bradfordgogreenerfund, with the successful firms being awarded the money in July.

Businesses in sectors including bars and cafes, gifts, arts and crafts, clothing, live entertainment, hospitality, health and beauty, fresh produce and property are among those to have already applied.

First West Yorkshire Managing Director, Paul Matthews said: “Owners need to complete a simple entry form with four questions on the website to be in with a chance to give their plans a boost.”

The fund will make awards of £2,000 to 10 successful applicants.

Videos showcasing these businesses will then go to a people’s vote with the winner receiving a fully-funded sustainability review of their business with advice from experts.
