A ‘warehouse man’ has been jailed for 30 months after he was caught with a stash of drugs worth more than £100,000, including a high-purity kilo block of cocaine.
Faisal Khan, 21, of Roundhill Street, Little Horton, Bradford, was arrested on November 30, 2020, when the police raided his car and a house in Greaves Street, Bradford Crown Court heard today.
They seized Class A and B drugs with a street value of more than £100,000, prosecutor Ashleigh Metcalfe said.
She told the court that the police found a taped-up one kilogram block of high purity co-caine worth about £85,000 in a VW Golf parked near the address.
Inside the flat they seized more cocaine and heroin along with nearly £20,000 worth of cannabis.
Miss Metcalfe said that when the officers searched the premises they also found weigh-ing scales, dealer bags, cash and seven or eight mobile phones.
Officers were acting on local intelligence suggesting that Class A and B drugs were be-ing sold from the address.
Khan pleaded guilty to possession of the Class A and B drugs with intent to supply them.
The court heard that he had admitted the offences on a basis accepted by the Crown that he was acting as ‘a warehouse man’, Khan’s barrister, Glenn Parsons, said he was aged 19 at the time. He had fallen into bad company and got into debt because of his cannabis use.
He had allowed his car to be used on one occasion, but he was not aware of the amount of drugs involved.
Mr Parsons said Khan had turned his life around since the offences back in November 2020. He urged the court to suspend any prison sentence because of his previous good character and strong personal mitigation.
Recorder Alex Menary said Khan had admitted being a warehouse man having run up a debt to his own dealer.
He accepted that there was another side to him. He was well thought of by family members, former teachers and members of the community.
But the recorder said that Khan must go immediately to prison.
“It does seem to me that these offences are so serious that I cannot bring the sentence down to a level when I can suspend it,” he told him.
“I very much regret to say the minimum sentence is 30 months.”
