A BOXING legend has congratulated Bradford on its UK City of Culture 2025 triumph.
Amir Khan, who announced his retirement from the ring earlier this year, sent his best wishes to the city.
Bradford was named as the City of Culture 2025 in a special live TV announcement made on Tuesday night.
The boxing superstar appeared in a video alongside Ishfaq Farooq, owner of Bradford restaurant My Lahore.
In the video, posted on Mr Farooq’s Instagram, Amir said: “Well done to Bradford on becoming the UK City of Culture.
“I wish you all of the very best and well done and keep it up.”
Amir has many links to Bradford. He was at My Lahore when the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited the city in January 2020.
Amir also wore a bespoke suit made by tailoring firm IK Collections, based in Westgate, Bradford, ahead of his 149lb catchweight contest against Sheffield’s Kell Brook at the AO Arena in Manchester last February.
