TWO Bradford schools have taken part in a magical celebration to mark 25 years since the publication of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.

The National Literacy Trust and Bloomsbury Publishing teamed up to celebrate the anniversary.

Whetley Academy and St Philips C of E Primary School took part in the Harry Potter bus tour to mark the anniversary.

The children hopped on board the touring storytelling ‘knight’ bus where they performed their own ‘poetry spells’ about their secret powers, goals and aspirations for the year ahead and filled in Harry Potter postcards, which will be exhibited in celebration events.

Pupils explored their imagination and performed bewitching spells.

During the event, the pupils also shared what Harry Potter means to them and their favourite moments.

In the week, schools were asked to write their own spells tying into the themes of aspirations, hopes, dreams and favourite moments from the series.

They were invited to fill in their special postcards about what the Harry Potter books mean to them ahead of the celebration events around the publication of the anniversary edition this summer where they will be exhibited.

The schools are two out of 25 schools from across the National Literacy Trust’s local area campaigns, including Bradford, which are taking part in Miles of Magic: The Harry Potter Book Relay.
