A MAN has been banned from driving after being caught drink driving at Leeds Bradford Airport.
Shane Schofield, 46, of Methley Road, Castleford, faced one charge of driving a motor vehicle when his alcohol level was above the limit.
He was caught driving in a public place - the Premium Car Park at Leeds Bradford Airport, Whitehouse Lane, Yeadon - after consuming so much alcohol that the proportion of it in his breath, namely 103 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, exceeded the prescribed limit. This offence took place on March 31, 2022.
Schofield was disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for 23 months. But the ban will be reduced by 23 weeks if, by September 7, 2023, Schofield has satisfactorily completed a course.
He was also given a community order, with a requirement to carry out 60 hours of unpaid work within the next 12 months.
He was also ordered to pay a £95 victim surcharge and £85 costs for the offence.
A collection order was made and the court is to apply for benefit deductions.
Schofield pleaded guilty to the drink driving charge and was sentenced at Leeds Magistrates’ Court on May 17.
