Police on a mission to rid the roads of dangerous driving have revealed the results of another year-long operation in Calderdale.
Operation Hawmill has received another 12 months of funding after 443 people were prosecuted for ‘fatal four offences’ between May 2021 and March 2022.
200 cases related to those not wearing a seatbelt while 157 people were caught speeding.
There were also 62 illegal vehicles taken off the roads and 37 people arrested, leading to 687 road safety outcomes overall.
The operation, funded by the Calderdale Community Safety Partnership, sees officers target speeding motorists, those driving above the drink or drug limit, motorists using a phone while driving and people driving without a seatbelt.
90 per cent of patrols took place in hotspot areas during evenings.
