Children across Bradford are joining in with the excitement in the lead up to the celebrations to mark Her Majesty the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Although the Bank Holiday weekend of events celebrating the occasion falls during the school holidays, many schools are not letting that dampen their enthusiasm.

Three primary and nursery schools that are joining in with the celebrations are Reevy Hill Primary School, Strong Close Nursery School in Keighley and St Francis Primary School in BD2.

At Reevy Hill Primary School pupils have been learning about the Coronation as part of their History lessons and on Thursday there will be a special event with a day of activities. The day will also include a parade around the local area with each class representing a different decade of Her Majesty’s reign.

Strong Close Nursery School in Keighley will be holding a garden party on Wednesday June 15 for families where a tree will be planted and a new seating area unveiled in memory of one of the school governors who passed away during the pandemic.

At St Francis Primary School in BD2 children have been learning the National Anthem to perform at a street party on Thursday where pupils will be dressing up in red, white and blue.
