A BANNED driver has been jailed after being caught driving a Mercedes in Cleckheaton.
Craig Davies, 38, was spotted driving on the A58 Whitehall Road on March 30, 2022, and was charged with driving while disqualified as well as driving without third party insurance.
He pleaded guilty at Leeds Magistrates’ Court on May 20 to both charges, and was jailed for eight weeks.
Magistrates said this was because the offence was so serious and it was aggravated by the defendant’s record of previous offending.
They also took Davies’ guilty plea into account when determining the sentence.
Davies, of Bostock Green, Ellesmere Port, was also disqualified from driving for a further period, this time for 38 months.
He must also pay a £128 victim surcharge.
