BATLEY and Spen MP Kim Leadbeater will investigate the threats politicians face today in a new TV documentary.
Ms Leadbeater, the sister of Jo Cox, who was killed outside her constituency surgery in 2016 by a far-right extremist, will reveal the scale of the abuse.
The documentary, ‘MPs Under Threat – Dispatches’ airs Monday, May 23 at 7.30pm on Channel 4, will show the impact on MPs of death threats, threats of sexual violence and abuse they receive in some cases on a daily basis.
In emotional interviews, former and current MPs and their staff, explain the reality of managing this abuse with one saying it caused them to leave their job.

Ms Leadbeater explores the unprecedented levels of abuse MPs and their staff experience – and asks what this means for our democracy and the people our MPs represent. Bradford West MP Naz Shah features in the programme.
Ms Leadbeater said: “The impact of the constant threats and abuse on my colleagues is clear. But we don’t want people to feel sorry for us. We just want to be able to do our jobs properly.
“I do carry panic alarms, and alarms with me in a way that I never, ever thought I would.”
