POLICE discovered a large cannabis farm of about 1,400 plants with a street value of over £1 million when attending a suspected burglary at an empty property.
The call came in from a local resident and officers visited the location, on the outskirts of Wakefield City Centre, earlier this week.
Police were keen to thank the member of the public who came forward with the information.
A spokesperson from the force said: "Earlier this week, officers from Wakefield West and Rural Neighbourhood Police Teams were involved in the dismantling of a large cannabis farm which had been discovered on the outskirts of Wakefield City Centre.
"The call to police initially came in from a local resident as a report of a suspected burglary at an empty property.
"Attending officers located a cannabis farm of approximately 1400 plants with a street value of over £1 million.
"As always, we would like to thank members of the public for being alert and for reporting their concerns to us.
