A DISTRICT school plans to install a Portacabin on its grounds due to a shortage of classroom space.
Parkside School in Cullingworth has applied for planning permission for a temporary building on its site, which the school says will create three new classrooms.
If approved the building will remain on site for a maximum of three years.
The application says: “Parkside School have identified a requirement for additional teaching space, to cope with the rising demand for student intake in the local area.
“The school currently has 1,171 students.
“Numbers have increased every year, resulting in a shortage of classroom space.
“The number of students with Special Educational Needs attending the school has also increased, which is why the temporary Portakabin building is required.”
A decision on the application is expected next month.
