Early morning motorists are being warmed to be on the lookout for surface water on some of the district's roads after heavy overnight rain.
The downpours had brought tricky driving conditions to some stretches of highway by the early hours, although the rain was expected to ease throughout the morning.
A tweet from the 'Live Traffic M62' account just after 4am said there were flooding problems on the westbound carriageway of the M62 between junction 26 for Chain Bar and junction 25 at Clifton, near Brighouse.
People are urged to drive with caution, to leave more distance between their own vehicle and the one infront, and to be aware of the risks of aquaplaning.
