POPULAR television quiz star Barry Simmons will attempt to win his ninth Airebrain title next week.
Barry, who regularly appears on BBC quiz show Eggheads, will battle it out at Idle Working Men’s Club on Tuesday, May 17, to equal the current record by John Gavaghan.
He will be joined in the final by previous winner, Eccleshill’s Keith Major; previous runner-up Dave McEvoy and first-time finalist, Horsforth’s Sarah Greenan.
All spectators are welcome to watch and there’s no charge. There will be three other finals on the evening including the Airedale Plate at 7.30pm and the Knock-Out Cup at 8.15pm.
The Pairs Final follows at 9pm, also featuring Barry with Who Wants to Be a Millionaire prize-winner Diane Hallagan. taking on Keith Major and new-to-the-league-this-season Mark Henley.
The evening will finish with the prestigious Airebrain Final at 9.30 pm.
The Airedale Quiz League has been in existence for 55 years and takes place on Tuesday evenings between September and May.
New teams are always welcome to join, as are new individual players.
