A judge has recommended the deportation of a Slovakian man who was caught exposing himself to members of the public near Shipley swimming pool.

Judge Christopher Prince was told today that it was the second time 25-year-old Ladislav Varga had been involved in such behaviour and he had also failed to notify police of his whereabouts despite being on the sex offenders' register.

Varga was jailed for 12 months after Bradford Crown Court heard how he was seen by a female manager at the pool exposing himself in the ground floor window of his home in nearby Alexandra Road.

Prosecutor John Bull said Varga's actions in the window went on for about ten minutes when adults and children were in the area.

The latest offence took place in November, but Judge Prince was told that in February last year Varga was given a 12-month community order after he admitted exposing himself outside a hairdressers.

In March and July he failed to notify the police of his change of address despite being subject to a registration order imposed by the magistrates.

Varga admitted the latest exposure charge and his barrister Giles Bridge confirmed that his client now wanted to return to Slovakia.

He said a psychiatrist had assessed Varga as being in the lowest one per cent of the population and he had difficulties with the Slovakian language never mind English.

Judge Prince told Varga: 'You were seen by a number of people. It was a busy morning. Children were going swimming and they could have seen you as well.'' Judge Prince confirmed that Varga, who has been on remand since November, would still be subject to sex offender registration for the next ten years.

'During the next six months consideration will be given as to whether you are actually deported because I can only recommend that you are,'' Judge Prince told him.
