Bradfordians are being asked to respond to a national call for evidence on the UK's mental health services.

Bradford District and Craven Health and Care Partnership wants the public's thoughts for the Government’s new 10-year plan to improve mental health.

The Government hopes to address inequal outcomes and life chances across the country while making sure the system offers fair and equal access to everyone.

People can share their views through the online questionnaire by 5pm on Friday, June 3.

The partnership will then submit the district's views to the Government and help shape the future of mental health services across the country.

It is described as an opportunity by Therese Patten, chief executive for Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust and chair for the Bradford District and Craven Health and Care Partnership Board for Mental Health, Learning Disabilities and Neurodiversity.

The health chief said: “We have an opportunity here to influence how mental health services are delivered. Your views will help to shape the new 10-year plan to improve mental health to be set out by the government.

"We want everyone to take part in the survey as this will affect how services are delivered across Bradford District and Craven.

“Bradford District and Craven Health and Care Partnership will collate all the responses from the survey and the feedback will be analysed to establish key themes. These will then contribute to our local response for call for evidence. The final response will be added to the Health Minds website (www.healthyminds.services).

"We will also prepare a local response to feedback we receive to show how your views will help us plan and deliver services across our partnership."

There is no limit to who can take part in the survey. Participants could include:

Children and young people, adults, and older adults who have experienced mental ill health.

• People who have cared for someone affected by mental ill health.

• People who work or volunteer in health and social care services who support people with their mental health.

• People who work or volunteer in places where they meet people who are affected by mental ill health (such as schools, job centres and housing associations).

• Academics and experts who work on mental health.

Anyone wanting a hard copy of the survey or in an alternative format (i.e. large print or braille) should email actasone@nhs.net or call 01274 237290 and ask for the ‘Call for evidence for new 10-year plan to improve mental health’ survey.

The national survey will close on Tuesday, July 5 at 11:45pm. People can take part in this if they’re unable to respond to the local survey by visiting the Government website.
