BRADFORD Council's 2022 elections are done and dusted and T&A readers from across the district have had their say.
Although there was a low turnout, after the votes were counted, Labour retained control of the council, gaining one seat, while the Liberal Democrats and Conservatives each lost a seat.
The Greens, however, won three seats, doubling the number of seats on the council.
While one reader wrote that it was "just a formality Labour winning" in Bradford, others shared their views about all the parties and the issues that are concerning residents.
Caliphone wrote: "Well at least democracy has been done in our elections. Perhaps we can pay tribute to those who retired from their seats and those who lost their seats whatever party they belonged to. They all put themselves forward to serve.
"Perhaps the party which made the greatest strides was the Green party which increased their representation to six seats. Overall, left and progressive parties outnumber the Tories three to one. What we need now is a progressive alliance at a national election so that the Tory minority can be beaten at the next general election by not competing against each other."
Why don't they...... wrote: "It's telling that the areas to vote Green are those in which the council have plans for road widening schemes and large development of green spaces. People in these areas have been left with no alternative, as all the mainstream parties are intent on expansion and growth of businesses at the expense of health and quality of life, whilst throwing in a few environmental buzz words to make themselves look relevant, caring and up-to-date.
"I hope that the Green councillors in these areas fight for their constituents and challenge the council on these matters.
"If not, then many other areas, including all the rural areas, will find themselves in the same desperate situation as those that have voted Green this time; that the Labour council also have plans to build on the green spaces in their area. Sadly, by then, it might be too late to try and vote this self-serving council out.

"They've voted in a party which will destroy this city's economy with stealth taxes like the so called Clean Air Zone."

I wouldn't have minded Green or Lib Dem winning either tbh - anyone but Conservatives! Horrible, horrible party they are.. They plainly do not care about the average Joe at all. In a city of average Joe's - that's bad!!"

"It has just become a case of replacing one head on the chopping block with another in some parts where the same heads remain in others.
"This country is broken, society is broken, the system as a whole is broken and there is nothing you or I can do to change that because they just do not listen and those in charge will just carry on with their own agenda regardless.
"We are just the sheep who must follow those in charge like lemmings off a cliff.
"Just strap yourself in and brace yourself for the future it's only going to get worse."
