A TRAGIC crash where a pedestrian died in Oakworth earlier this week has left a family and community devastated, says a local councillor.
A male pedestrian died in Denby Court, a cul-de-sac in Oakworth, after being struck by Mitsubishi L200 Barbarian shortly after 11.30pm on Thursday.
"We've been informed of the current ongoing investigation," said Worth Valley ward councillor Rebecca Poulson. "No-one is quite sure how the accident happened. It's so unusual to happen in a cul-de-sac.
"Across the Worth Valley, people are very upset by this and the family is devastated."
A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "The vehicle turned onto Denby Court from Tim Lane and was travelling in an easterly direction when the collision with the male pedestrian happened, causing him to suffer fatal injuries."
Police are appealing for anyone who has dashcam footage or CCTV of the pedestrian or vehicle in the run-up to the incident.
"Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or the circumstances leading up to it, or who may have dashcam/CCTV footage of the vehicle or pedestrian is asked to contact West Yorkshire Police by calling 101, or online via westyorkshire.police.uk/101livechat quoting reference 2007 of 5/5."
