Police have arrested a man in relation to a stabbing at a Bradford mosque.
The incident took place around quarter to 10 at Madni Masjid on the special religious day of Eid, a celebration which follows Ramadan each year.
The Telegraph & Argus understands that the stabbing took place during the Imam's offering of the second prayers.
West Yorkshire Police has launched an investigation into the stabbing while the mosque has been sealed off as a crime scene for further enquiries.
The victim, who is now in a critical condition, is receiving care at Bradford Royal Infirmary.
One eye witness, who wished to remain anonymous, said: "It was packed full of prayers. So so sad.
"[The victim] has been airlifted to hospital and the area has been sealed off."
Councillor Taj Salam (Labour, Little Horton) told the Telegraph & Argus: "There has been an incident at Madni Masjid.
"[The victim] was taken to hospital.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim's family and friends.
"There's an ongoing investigation at this moment in time. They're [police] on the scene."
Speaking on the shock of such an incident taking place on Eid, Cllr Salam said: "It's a very special day after the 30th day of fasting. People were looking forward to enjoying the day. However this horrific incident has dampened the whole mood. The community is quite stunned by the incident.
"An incident like this is always sad. There are no community tensions therefore people have actually gone away with a sad and dampened mood and everybody's thoughts and prayers are with the family."
Councillor Fareeda Mir (Labour, Little Horton) said: "It's just recently happened at the Eid prayers.
"We don't know much about it. We just know there's been a serious incident.
"Our thoughts are with the family on this special day."
