More high-profile names have been added to the stars helping to celebrate young people's successes at an awards ceremony next month.

Celebrities from sport and television will take part in the Telegraph & Argus-backed awards ceremony on Wednesday, February 27, at St George's Hall, Bradford.

Bradford Bulls stars Joe Vagana and Glenn Morrison and English super featherweight champion Femi Fehintola have joined the celebrities who will present awards.

They will be joined by BBC Look North presenter Christa Ackroyd and Bradford street magician Dynamo at the event.

A record number of nominations were put forward for the awards which are now in their second year.

People across the district nominated children, young people and groups for the categories of the competition organised by Bradford Council.

The judges now have the tough job of deciding the winners of each category, which are from the Government's Every Child Matters agenda and include Be Healthy, Stay Safe, Enjoy and Achieve, Making a Positive Contribution and Achieving Economic Wellbeing.

Also performing on the night are music and dance acts Urban Circus Arts, Lauren, Dhol Players, Loss Souls, Rhythm Riots, Vogue, Waxworks and the Hanson School Soul Band, with Galaxy radio DJ Jo Jo compering the evening.

Awards organiser Pete Sims, the youth service senior manager at Bradford Council, said the judges had been pleased with the entries.

He said: "The judges have been incredibly impressed with the depth and breadth of the nominations and the quality.

"It demonstrates what a wealth of talented children and young people we have in Bradford. We have got a lot to be proud about."
