COMMUNITIES from across the Bradford district came together to share an iftar meal last week.
The event took place on Tuesday at Shapla Hall in Manningham and was organised by the Eden Project, a local sports engagement programme.
Among the guests in attendance were Cllr Shabir Hussain; Lord Mayor of Bradford, Reverend Nathan Javed, John Grogan; former Keighley MP, Dr Manoj Joshi DL, Mark Hill MBE; creator of the Afghan Buddy Box, Cllr Sabiya Khan, Cllr Fozia Shaheen, Shaukat Ahmed MBE and Azad Uddin, amongst others.
Iftar is the meal Muslims share at the end of the day to break their fast during the month of Ramadan.
It is often a social occasion and brings people together during one of the most important times of the year for Muslims.
The event also showcased the recent civic delegation visit to Bangladesh, which was led by Fulzar Ahmed, the former mayor of Keighley, Cllr Ashraf Miah and Humayun Islam BEM.
The Eden Project’s team of volunteers came together to make the event happen.
The volunteer team included Anamul Haque, Anwar Hussain, Sadik Ahmed, Ruhel Miah, Rukonuzzaman Ahmed and a number of others.
