THE SANTANDER branch in the city centre will remain closed until further notice after ‘structural issues’ posed a safety risk.
The branch located at the junction of Darley Street and Kirkgate was reported to be closed on Tuesday, April 19.
A spokesperson for Santander said: “In the interest of the safety of our colleagues and customers, we are monitoring the structural integrity of the building and as such, cannot provide a timescale as to when the branch will be reopened.
Santander also added: “Should the branch have to close for a long period of time, we will assess the need for an alternative temporary site local to the current branch.”
Earlier this week, it was reported that the branch had been closed with a notice on the window stating: “Due to structural issues and health and safety concerns, the Bradford branch is currently closed and until further notice.”
The company advised customers the closest branch was in Shipley.
“We have seven alternative Santander branches within ten miles of Bradford, and our Darley Street colleagues will be relocated to nearby branches to provide support for customers.
"Services can also be accessed through our online, mobile or telephone banking while the nearest post office is located at 22 Charles Street Mall, The Broadway and ATMs can be found at Halifax, 28 Bank Street and RBS 45-47 Bank Street.”
