A MILL building in the middle of an industrial area of Bradford could soon be converted into flats.
Newly revealed plans reveal that the first floor of Mount Street Mills, currently classed as office space, could be divided up into 15 flats.
QS Food Services has applied to Bradford Council for a “certificate of lawfulness” that would allow the plans to go ahead without the need for a full planning application.
They argue that with the first floor being classed as vacant office space, the development would meet the criteria of “permitted development.”
City centre flats conversion that would provide 'inadequate living accommodation' is refused
Changes to the planning system introduced by government allow developers to convert office or retail space into housing without the need for planning permission.
The application shows there would be six one-bed flats and nine studio flats in the development.
The building, near Leeds Road, is close to a number of motor repair businesses and a catering retailer.
A decision is expected June.
