A former HSBC bank branch in Pudsey town centre is set to be transformed into a new coffee shop.
Church Court (Morley) Ltd applied to Leeds City Council for change of use from a bank to a coffee shop in early April.
Writing on behalf of its client, agency Code L6 Architecture applied for new use as a "coffee shop within the ground floor of the building".
The cafe plans have since been approved by the Council.
The building, found in the heart of Pudsey's highstreet, has remained empty for almost two years.
The HSBC branch in Pudsey closed in Summer 2020 along with 27 other banks.
More and more customers had turned to different forms of banking, HSBC said, making them less reliant on using a branch.
Stuart Haire, HSBC UK's head of retail banking and wealth management, said: "Retaining a sustainable branch network is extremely important to us and we need to ensure it is fit for the future."
In 2020, HSBC said its global headcount would be reduced by 35,000 over the next three years.
These measures would include "meaningful" cuts in the UK, HSBC said.
