Stampede Theatre Company's production of The Full Monty is a family affair for two cast members.

Laura Judge stars in the show based on the hit movie by Keighley writer Simon Beaufoy, and her son Bradley is also in the production.

The story of a group of Sheffield steel workers who turn to stripping after being made redundant was a worldwide success and has since been made into a hit musical.

Laura plays Vicki Nichols, the wife of former factory supervisor Harold. Pride prevents Harold from telling his wife that he no longer has a job, so he continues to put on a suit and tie each morning and leaves the house as if he's setting off for a day's work.

Before long Harold has joined the motley bunch of former steel workers who take to male stripping to make ends meet.

Laura is no stranger to the stage, having played many roles in local amateur society productions, including Idle and Thackley drama group, Bingley Little Theatre and the Keighley Playhouse, and her TV appearances include The Chase, Where The Heart Is, Dead Clever and The Royal Today, ITV's new medical drama filmed at St Luke's Hospital in Bradford. She has appeared at Yeadon Town Hall stage several times over recent years.

"Vicki is thought to be very high maintenance, which is probably a more accurate description of me than the character!" jokes Laura. "This is an exciting project for all of us and I'm loving working with such a talented group. I haven't seen any stripping yet though, which is a bit disappointing!"

Since training in musical theatre at Rose Bruford College in London, Laura, of West Morton, has never looked back.

In addition to her TV and theatre work, Laura performs in murder mysteries and cabarets and teaches drama in local primary schools. She is also a mother-of-three, with Bradley being the middle child.

Bradley, 14, beat several hopefuls to the role of Nathan, the son of the unemployed mill worker played by Robert Carlyle in the 1997 movie.

A pupil at Bingley Grammar School, Bradley has appeared in panto at the Alhambra with Billy Pearce as well as theatrical productions in Keighley. He has landed a place with Leeds-based Northern Ballet Theatre and has ambitions to carve a theatrical career in the West End.

This isn't the first time Laura and Bradley have appeared on stage together. Last year they appeared in the Grove and Rawdon Theatre Company's production of Carousel at Yeadon Town Hall.

The production team of Royston Bayfield, Donna Woodman and Tom Kyle have cracked the whip to make sure the Full Monty cast get in trim for the show.

"The rehearsals have been intense as we've only had six weeks to get the show up to scratch," says director Royston. "Luckily we have some of the best performers in the area in The Full Monty. It will be a great show and a fantastic night out."

The biggest challenge facing the six male leads is taking their clothes off on stage in front of 500 people. But it won't be the first time for one of the cast; Richard Lloyd trained, then worked, as a professional actor and one of his roles was remarkably similar to the one he plays in The Full Monty.

"I was picked to film a spoof of The Full Monty in a Belgian clothes store advert some six or seven years ago," says Richard.

"We had to dance naked in front of a room full of more than 200 women, which wasn't easy. The twist from the original was that we came on naked, and the more clothes we put on, the more excited the women got, because they loved the clothes! I've got a video of it somewhere but I don't think I'll be showing the other lads - it might scare them off!'
